IN CHRIST

INTRO.

For the first time in my life, I’d like to say: Don’t follow me. Follow Jesus.

For the sake of introduction: I am a Brooklyn-bred, Charlotte-living, mid-30s child of God. I am a single mom, a writer, a New York Jets fan, and founder of a successful poetry brand. I have been a Christian since childhood, but an avid churchgoer since 2014.

In February 2024, God lifted the veil from my eyes and revealed something sobering: You can have love for God… yet, still not be in Christ.

And so – that February – God called me out of my church home, which required an intense level of obedience. I have since begun to see my understanding of the richness + fullness of Jesus, unfolding before my very eyes.

Over the years, I’ve toggled with how to best share various aspects of my testimony. But, I now realize that all of my stories and my entire life points to the Gospel.

Leaving all influencer-tendencies behind: Please don’t follow me! Follow Jesus.

This site will serve as a space for those who are: waking up to deceptive teachings; looking for a Bible Study starting point; or needing to be encouraged in their faith.

I

PURPOSE.

The through line is Jesus. God has kept me safe + near and He has graciously allowed me the time to get this truth in my spirit: that the only way to the Father is through the Son. (John 14:6)

I have been a Christian my whole life, and I’ve been a faithful churchgoer for 10 years. And though I’ve always had a deep, unshakeable love of God; I lacked a regenerative understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, salvation and our purpose as Believers.

God drew me out of subtly deceptive false teachings and into the truth and I feel invigorated in a way that’s different from anything I’ve ever felt before.

God has lifted the veil from my eyes. He used the Holy Spirit to do this, but had people in place (in my real life and online) to point me to scripture and trusted Bible-based teachings that have grown my faith exponentially.

And now, I feel compelled to do the same!

IN SHORT.

Everything should point to the Gospel. The good news Gospel of Jesus Christ.

God set the standard for what is good, Holy and true. His law and commandments are perfect, and when we fail to live in this perfection, we are in sin. Sin is what separates us from God – now and for all of eternity. We were all born into this world with a sin nature. None of us are perfect and none of us will ever be able to keep God’s law perfectly. We all sin.

The only way for sinners to be reconciled with God is by grace, through faith. And the method of atonement has always required sacrifice.

Under the Old Covenant, this was accomplished through the sacrifice of an unblemished animal; and the reconciliation was neither lasting, nor final. It was temporary and offerings had to be made consistently.

But as He said He would, God came down to earth wrapped in flesh as Jesus, the Messiah.

Jesus – the second Person of the Holy Trinity – lived a sinless life and led a perfect ministry. Jesus, unblemished, went to the cross to serve as the ultimate and final sacrifice for sin.

Jesus was crucified, died on the cross, placed in a tomb, and He was resurrected after three days. This was done for the forgiveness of sin for all those who would place their faith in Him; believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is only then that we are reconciled with the Father.

He created us all, but God’s children are those who place their faith in Jesus Christ. Just as the Israelites had to have faith that, through sacrifice, God would forgive them – we have to have faith that, through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are forgiven.

The Holy Spirit convicts us of the truth: of Jesus, of Scripture and of sin. Once you realize the magnitude of your sin, you are to repent – meaning, you turn your will toward God. You realize the sacrifice and punishment that Jesus has made and experienced on your behalf. You realize that He’s saved you from having to spend eternity apart from God. Upon repenting, you need to confess to God that you accept and receive Jesus’ role as Lord and Savior over your life.

Everything should point to the Gospel. The entire Bible points to the cross; either by prophesy, foreshadowing or evangelism. Likewise, our lives should point to the Gospel.
